Triadd (or lack therof) - Porters Oyster Bar 9.13.08

I think you can tell that this Saturday night was a difficult one for me. I don't get a lot of Saturdays off so I was a bit pumped to see at least two bands to report on. I went to Wool Street and saw Chasing the Day then I thought I'd see what the new owners did with Porters Oyster Bar on Rt 14 in Crystal Lake.

The bar is nice. Not all that much different. They went with the formula of hanging as many TVs as they could over the bar ... like everyone else does. They changed the seating a bit and changed the area a little where the band would play. It was OK. Still not a good live music venue as the layout is awkward. However, they have live music back at Porters again so you have to patronize this place and support them!

Triadd. I think Triadd played there this night. I saw some equipment up there but I didn't see a band. I got in to Porters at 11:05 and left at 11:30 and there was nobody playing. If the band members went up to play as soon as I left it would still take 5 minutes for them to get situated and start the next set. That's a 30 minute break.

Therefore, I didn't get to see Triadd. I did see at least 8-10 people leave during that 25 minutes I was there and they were not going outside to smoke and come back in. I really hope there wasn't anything wrong or an emergency or something. I guess I won't ever know.

Sorry Triadd but it's one of my peeves. Besides the break thing, I have not heard of Triadd and I can't find a web site for them. If you're a band that's been around for a long time, I think you have to admit that a 30-minute break is a long one. If you are a newer band, taking a 30-minute breaks doesn't help your rep.

There you go. This night ended up with me seeing one band and not seeing another.

In response to youe unfortunate Triadd experience, The local group TRIADD has been around since 2008 consisting of musical veterans. Bass Player/Vocalist Rick Jacobs former lead singer for 80's pop sensation "Steel Breeze" Tim Mcgovern/Vocals,Guitar & Steve Moss/Drums vocals formerly of Jim Peterick produced "Captive Heart" and Scott Jensen/Vocals,Guitar, and Grand Prize winner in one of Billboard magazines songwriting contest's,vocals guitar for many local acts....The night in question at Porters TRIADD had just performed an hour and a half set due to the fact the crowd at Porters was completly connected/dancing and singing along.Knowing if you take your break in the midst of that you risk breaking that connection.
I suggest you take another chance at seeing TRIADD. Breaks are not always 30 minutes. You will definately enjoy what you hear, although it still would have been worth the wait.
