Ah ... the Lakeside Fest. You see so much music all in one place. The only thing is that most all of the bands you see at fests are really good bands. Crossfire is certainly one of them.
This is not a good band. Crossfire is a great band! I have a secret repressed love for country music and especially ass-kicking country guitar soloists. The lead soloist in this band was exceptional but what I was really blown away with were the vocal harmonies.
Now I don't care if you like country music or not. But I'm telling you, even if you don't think you like country music, you have to appreciate the phenomenal harmony work between these guys. As a musician, I am very very impressed by their arrangements of many of the songs they do. Rocky Mountain Way and Hotel California were beautifully done. So was the Johnny Cash material and Rascal Flats stuff. These guys are really really really good. I hope they come back year after year and I will see them again.
The sound this time was very good and well executed. I was very simply blown away with these guys. Crossfire consists of two guitar players, a bassist and a drummer. And I have to say this, hearing two Telecasters on stage at one time got me kind of hot.
Go see these guys. They are worth every mile you have to travel to see them ... especially if you appreciate country music.
