What a great day Saturday was! Perfect weather and music all day long at the Crystal Lake Gala.
It started with Chicago's Od Tapo Imi. This band was on the Main Stage through the big PA. This is a large band with lots of props with them on stage. There are steel drums and steel drums are like Telecasters to me ... I love 'em. However, this band was just "OK". The vocals lacked personality and were pitchy. Some of their versions of some songs were just not all that great in my opinion. Other songs were great. The crowd liked them.
They were costumed and choreographed and they had a great show. They are apparently very popular and have lots of bookings as per their web site: http://www.odtapoimi.com/
All in all, they were a good way to get the afternoon kicked off with what appeared to be a tropical - Jimmy Buffett style theme. Good band over all.
