The 5th Element - Govnor's Public House 12.21.07

There's not much else to say. It's a wedding band. It's a 1970s Holiday Inn circuit lounge band. It's the 5th Element band.

You can see the band's blurb at the gigmasters link at http://www.gigmasters.com/liveband/The5thElementBand/

I used to be in bands like this. Don't get me wrong. They were OK for what they do. I just wasn't aware bands actually formed up to do this kind of gig nowadays. And I'll bet there's still money in it, too.

I survived Spooky, Fly Me To The Moon, Just The Way You Are, Lady's Night, and a Saturday Night Fever two-fer. The one though that made me hurry up with my pint of delicious Doppel Bock was when I heard Quando Quando Quando.

It's not the band. For me, it's the memories that I had successfully and happily suppressed for all these years that came flooding back into my consciousness like so many flying monkeys from Oz. I'm absolutely sure there were many people there who liked what they heard but I also noticed that the entire end of the bar was empty when I left.

The 5th Element consists of a drummer/vocalist, keyboardist/saxophonist/vocalist, bassist and guitarist/vocalist. Guys, you were OK and believe me, I know what you were doing up there. I just .... I can't go ... I .......you just kind of freaked me out, that's all.
