The Volcanos - Govnors Public House 12.14.07

As Wedding Banned was at Duke O'Brien's this night, I decided to go over to Govnors to see what was happening there.

The Volcanoes was a very good band and the only way I got their name was I saw it on a posting there.

These guys were very good and featured one of the better guitar players I've seen lately. They consist of a guitarist/singer, a guitarist/singer/keyboardist, a bass player and a drummer. All of them were excellent musicians. My only complaint was they do most of the songs you hear everyone else do but then again, that's what the audience seems to want.

I was only around for the first set and heard They Call Me The Breeze, The Last Train To Clarksville, Honky Tonk Woman, American Girl, The House Is A Rockin and some others. I was extremely impressed with Good Times Bad Times by Lead Zep. They played everything with an edge to it and I'd certainly like to see them again and I'd like to see their whole show somewhere else besides the "Boom Boom Room" of McHenry County .... but Govnors will do. Their bios are very impressive and they apparently aren't in JD's stable and their "past peformances" tab on their web site does not show them doing the Creative Talent - controlled establishments so, more power to you guys!

Keep an eye open for The Volcanoes! They are more than worth the drive!
