I was coming home from a rehearsal and I saw Dorian Castle's name on the sign for the new restaurant, Fire Wood. I had been wanting to check the place out and since I've seen Mr Castle before, I thought this was good timing.
Fire Wood is a nice place. It's a joy to see a new nice restaurant and lounge in town. I hate using the word "lounge" as to me, the term denotes a Holiday Inn lounge in the 70s with Murph and the MagicTones playing there in their red velvet suits. It is a very nice cozy place and a place I could certainly hang out in.
And it would be nice to hang out there listening to Dorian Castle. He is perfect for this kind of setting and plays a very wide variety of tunes. He plays a Yamaha keyboard that has all the backing music programmed in. He's a one-man-band. He has an excellent voice and the audience really liked him. He plays tunes the 30-somethings would like as well as material for the 50-somethings. I had a good time and I'd see him again. I wrote about him last year and although I thought he wasn't perfect for outside festival events, he certainly was a great fit with Fire Wood. Check out his web site at http://www.doriancastle.com/
