The second band I got to see was 16 Candles. Another 80s band! Two in a row! Seems like everyone's doing 80s material nowdays.
I like 16 Candles. They were energetic and the crowd had thickened up a bit by the time they went on stage. 16 Candles is a four piece outfit with bass, guitar, drums, singer and keyboardist. They played a few of the cookie-cutter songs everyone else does but had a pretty cool mix of various choices. They were good players and the vocals were very good. They were a fun group to watch and when you join them up with Maggie Speaks, you ended up with several hours of real fun times. If it wasn't for the $6 beers, it would have been a REALLY fun night.
Check out the 16 candles site at http://www.sixteencandlesband.com/
and you'll see they're playing all over the place. Check them out. I'm glad the Gala people chose them and Maggie Speaks to be there.
